Training Courses In Childcare

In 2004 Happitots Day Nursery gained accreditation by SQA to deliver the SVQ level 2 & 3 in Child Care, this allowed us as a company to train and assess our own nursery assistants in house. With this we receive yearly funding from Skills Development Scotland which enables the candidates not only to gain their Childcare qualification but also to gain a Modern Apprenticeship too. All 17 nurseries throughout the Bertram Nursery group utilise the training company.

All our candidates are assigned an assessor who will support them throughout the SVQ programme and visit them on a regular basis at their workplace. All our assessors are trained with the relevant qualifications but also have experience in the childcare field so that our candidates are being trained to the highest standard. Workshops are held on a regular basis to incorporate subjects e.g. Child Protection, Curriculum for Excellence and candidates are also set projects to develop their research skills also.

Candidates can work at their own pace and open surgery nights are held quarterly by the Training and Development Manager to ensure all avenues of support are available to ensure candidates understand the theory aspect of their qualification.

In 2005 the training company gained the Scottish Quality Management System certificate which we as an organisation use to self evaluate the quality of our training provision and set targets for us to move forward in the future.

In 2008 we obtained accreditation to deliver training in SVQ Level 4 and the A1 Assessor Award.
