What Our Facility Provides

The nursery provides high quality childcare for children aged 12 weeks to five years. The nursery playrooms were decorated in 2007 light, natural colours to encourage a calming atmosphere. All age groups have separate spacious play areas that provide challenging and interesting experiences.  

Our under 3’s follow “North Lanarkshire Council Birth to three” and the 3-5’s follow “ A Curriculum for Excellence “ We follow and implement planning from North Lanarkshire Council. We hold Parent’s Evenings twice yearly where parents can come along and discuss their child’s progress and look at their child’s personal development profile which include staff observations, photographs, art work and products of work that children have taken part in over the year such as matching, letter and number recognition and cultural work.  

Baby Room

In the baby room we are registered for 12 babies offering North Lanarkshire Council curriculum planning. The room is cosy with windows allowing plenty of natural light into the room, cots and changing area. Staff offer opportunities for heuristic play, messy play and going out for local walks.

Tweenie Room

In our Tweenie room we are registered to take a maximum of 15 children offering North Lanarkshire Council curriculum planning. The room is cosy with windows allowing plenty of natural light into the room. There are also opportunities for rest within the room and separate changing area.  Staff offer opportunities for holistic play, messy / creative play and going out for local walks.

The play room consists of:

  • Reading corner
  • Construction
  • Role play area
  • Physical area
  • Sensory area
  • Creative area
  • Snack area

Toddler Room

The toddler room is a large open planned room which can hold a maximum of 25 children offering North Lanarkshire Council curriculum planning. The room is cosy with windows allowing plenty of natural light into the room. There is also the opportunity for rest within the room, and separate changing area out with room. Our 2 to 3 years olds follow a curriculum based on planned and child-centred activities and experiences that will encourage and promote individual learning through play. Developmental profiles for each individual child are kept to plan next steps for learning.                                

 Our 3-5 Department

The pre school room is a large open planned room which can hold a maximum of 32 children. Our 3 to 5 years olds follow a curriculum based on planned and child-centred activities and experiences that will encourage and promote individual learning through play. Developmental profiles for each individual child are kept to plan next steps for learning. We encourage partnership with parents and learning at home through our home reading programme and Adventure Ted.

Government funding is available for 3 years and over.

Staff follow the Scottish Executive ‘Curriculum Framework for Children 3 –5’ guidelines. The curriculum has five key aspects:  

Garden  

We have a roof top garden which is currently under development to provide areas such as sensory, physical, woodland area and also a grassed area. We have a large variety of resources and equipment designed to develop all areas of the curriculum. 

Food & Snacks

We provide all healthy meals and snacks which are prepared on the premises, we also cater for special, medical or dietary requirements.

Parking

There is car parking situated below the nursery, using the lift to gain access to the 3rd floor.
