Training

Success means providing Excellent quality and service at a fair price. It means keeping up with the latest changes and staying ahead of the competition. To do that, we need skilled staff that are full of ideas, know the job and understand how to offer the best level of support to children and their parents. That means they need quality training.

In 2004 we gained accreditation by SQA to deliver the SVQ level 2, 3 and 4 in Child Care in Scotland, in 2008 we achieved accreditation by CASH to deliver the NVQ level 2, 3 and Level 4 in Child Care in England. This allowed us as a company to train and assess our own nursery staff at all levels in house. All 33 nurseries throughout the Bertram Nursery group benefit from in-house training to ensure that both our existing staff and new colleagues reach the highest standards within our industry.

All our colleagues receive a one to one assessor who will support them throughout their programme and visit them on a regular basis at their workplace. All our assessors are trained with the relevant qualifications but also have experience in the childcare field so that our colleagues are being trained to the highest standard. Workshops are held on a regular basis to incorporate subjects outside of the curriculums e.g. Child Protection, Curriculum for Excellence and our colleagues are also set projects to develop their research skills also.

Candidates can work at their own pace and open surgery nights are held quarterly by the Training and Development Manager to ensure all avenues of support are available to ensure they receive the highest level of support throughout their career.
